In this publication Dr. Harrison Wright and Jeff Franklin are sharing two interesting articles. Also, it’s important to highlight that in the early hours of January 22nd, we recorded a low temperature of -22.4 °C at the Kentville Research Centre and -26.5 °C at CFB Greenwood. More information about it in the bud hardiness report 6!
The first article
is titled ‘Nova Scotia Wine Grapes: Will a
Changing Climate Mean a Change in Spring Frost Risk?’. This interesting
article analyzes how the climate changes have impacted grape growing in our
region the last couple of years and shows an interesting historical weather
analysis of Kentville (1913 – 2021). You can find information about frost
events, growing degree days and bud burst modelling, among other details in
this article. If you have problems to see the report, please try: https://www.perennia.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Wright-and-Franklin-NS-climate-and-grape-spring-frost-risk-2022.pdf.
