The growing season 2022 passed a couple of months ago with a good accumulation of heat units, a couple of weeks with lower precipitation and even a hurricane in the middle of harvest. We want to wrap up this Best Practices session with main observations from last growing season, observations from this current winter, bud hardiness values and a discussion between growers to know more from their perspective.
At this
time, Jeff Franklin will present main seasonal observations from last year, bud
hardiness results with their explanations and provide winter forecasts.
Francisco Diez will relate climatic parameters with growing conditions, plant
development and how this can affect pruning decisions. Closing our session,
Danielle Graham, Marcel Kolb and Steve Ells will be discussing last season, the
activities happening in the vineyards and their observations.
This session’s agenda will be as follows:
- Jeff Franklin: weather sump up, bud hardiness and winter forecast
- Francisco Diez: climatic parameters on grapevines last season and impact on pruning
- Growers’ discussions: Danielle Graham from Benjamin Bridge, Marcel Kolb from Luckett Vineyards, and Steve Ells from Ellslea Farm.
